Creative branding photography for Emma Annie Colton

There is nothing that gets me more excited than when a small business owner comes to me and says ‘let’s make art and have some fun’. Emma did exactly that. She is a self proclaimed halloween fan and asked if we could do an autumnal, witchy shoot of dreams to really capture her spirit in her favourite season and it went so well.

It certainly helped that not only did Emma nail her wardrobe choices but the sun got the memo, the venue’s were on board and her witchy dreams bathed in golden light were well and truly imagined.

We laughed, played, experimented and creatively existed all day and you can really see from the photos that we made that brief come alive.

We kept the concept very simple. We meet for coffee in Emma’s favourite spot, we then went for a ‘business meeting’ in her regular co-working spot. Although very quickly we found spinny office chairs and resumed some chaotic art making - no regrets. We were then joined by a client of Emma’s that helped to really tell the story of how Emma interacts with her clients.

Emma then did a mini-headshot season with Olivia so I could really get those behind-the-scenes action shots. I also shot some B-Roll video clips for Emma to use on social media as well.

After that we chased the evening light with a full blown witchy, wuthering heights theme. No shoes, running through fields, framed by a clear blue sky whilst being bathed in dreamy orange beams. I mean, it’s a photographer’s dream right?

I love that Emma felt like she could embody her true artistic self on this shoot and I loved the opportunity it gave me to really get creative.

These shots embody the professional, the personal and all the parts of Emma, whilst standing out and feeling different to generic branding photos.

These shots are everything that I love about my job and it was an absolute joy to work with Emma and Olivia to capture them.

Here’s what Emma had to say about the shoot:

“Your photos show me as I am, not me in my ‘best light’, just raw and unfiltered. This is exactly what I wanted… Photoshoots are better than therapy!”
