A Cambridge Brand Photoshoot with Equine Photographer, Beth Hicks

Beth is a photographer, digital content creator and marketer that was looking for fresh branding photos to show off her multi-discipline business whilst making her audience understand her on a human level.

We started off the day on her yard with her horse, taking him for a walk, attempting to stop him from eating every tree, bush and flower we came across. However it was in these naughty moments that we got the most authentic laughs and expressions so I was actively encouraging him to eat the odd piece of grass here and there (don’t tell Beth!)

Our priority for the shoot was to really show off Beth’s personality. From her interactions with her animals to her minor coffee obsession, to her readiness to enjoy and be present in the Cambridge countryside.

We chose to shoot at multiple locations around Beth’s home and neighbourhood so that it felt more authentically like her.

Once we had captured all the different business lifestyle aspects of her job from her home office, we changed outfits and headed out to a nearby field in the late afternoon, golden sun. Here we were free to move, take up space and have some fun with portraiture.

Against a vivid blue sky and a corn field we frolicked and giggled whilst snapping away.

As we were nearing the end of our shoot we came across an idyllic river. I looked at Beth and said ‘how adventurous are you feeling?’ to which she replied ‘I’ll get in that river if you think it will look good!’ I think she may have regretted that decision slightly as she tip toed into the ice cold water but once we were splashing around we created the most exciting and dynamic photos, that stand out from competitors and are completely memorable.

It also made for an exhilarating and exciting experience.

I loved this shoot.

It was so full of energy, laughter and excitement and it captured the many expressions and personality traits of Beth. Although we snapped a couple of laptop/podcast mic stock photos for her image library, most of the photos stand out and are different for branding photos. No fuzzy lamb couches or perfect, hazy white fake-ness. Just real moments, in real places where we had a real good time… (sorry. I know the grammar isn’t right but the rhythm was nice!)

Here’s what she had to say about the shoot:

“Becky captured me and my business perfectly. She made me feel so relaxed, and that really came through in the images. I’m thrilled with the results!”
