A brand photoshoot in Barbican, London with Laura from Studio Mepa

Laura got in touch for a number of reasons. She was about to move to the other side of the world with her graphic design studio, and her family to the sunny beaches of Australia and she wanted to keep some metropolitan, London vibes in her messaging to new and future clients. AND she wanted a celebration of herself and her successes.

So as you can imagine, I was jumping with joy at the prospect of combining branding photography with empowerment vibes.

We decided that a Power Portraits session was perfect to give Laura the refreshed imagery that she needed to intersperse in between what would soon be her magical beach imagery and we decided that the Barbican in London would be the perfect backdrop to give green, tropical vibes with concrete jungle.

I’m obsessed with the Barbican. It’s perfect to get creative, awesome for winter shooting because you can still get the natural light but a lot of it is undercover, it has bright green water - not in a weird way - and the leading lines and variety you can get from the architecture is a photographer’s paradise.

For this shoot we were aiming for approachable, fun, goofy and knowledgable and we got there with some blustery weather being a paid actor and some sun beams sent down straight from the heavens to help us out.

I LOVE these photos and a power portraits session is perfect for you if you’ve had a shoot before and are looking for a refresh of some portraits. For a power portraits session we shoot for one hour and we focus mostly on you, with a maximum of 2 outfits and potentially a handful of business lifestyle/phone & laptop pics if we can find a good spot in a cafe when we’re on our shoot. It’s far more chilled out and relaxed than a microshoot day and we have an opportunity to get creative and have some fun and you’ll walk away with brand new marketing material to make your social media posting far less of a headache!

Here’s what Laura had to say about the shoot:

“Becky is such a joy to shoot with! She is both calming and energising at once and captures pure emotion. I highly recommend working with Becky!”
