A photo essay of female joy.

For me, this project is special. It was the first time in a long time that I had really felt compelled to jump into a personal project.

As a frequent user of the Metropolitan tube line (that travels through Wembley Central) I was very aware of the glittery, buzzy energy that bounced through the trains from around 3pm each day Taylor Swift was in town. Previously I had just enjoyed the people watching but on Taylor's final night, the sun shone and I just had to capture the moment - street photography style.

The atmosphere was thick with excitement, anticipation and pure joy. I witnessed tattooed dads covered in friendship bracelets with glitter in their beards, little girls being bedazzled with sticky gems by a group of 30 somethings that had decided to adopt them as new BFFs. I saw costumes that had taken hours of intricate work to create and the excitement as other fans would appreciate the handywork. I saw Met Police officers proudly participating and competing to see who could swap the most beaded finery and so many pairs of epic cowboy boots that they are on my wardrobe wishlist for the forseeable.

In a world that seems dark and scary (particularly for women and girls) I saw the light, the sisterhood, the friendship and the kindness of strangers. I saw people united by love it was beautiful.

Here are the Swifties and their palpable joy before and during the Taylor Swift August shows at Wembley Stadium:
